ADHD Multi-Tasking: Gift or Curse?
21.09.11
There’s no accounting …
I can’t say how often I’ve found myself at the end of a day with a notion of self-satisfaction regarding my accomplishments, only to suddenly recollect (or be reminded of) the task I started out to do – the one I realize I never completed.
I’m not stable if straying off task is caused by attempting to do things that are too loosely defined. Cleaning out the garage or painting the supplementary room would be examples. Is being sidetracked something that would occur even if I broke the job down into human being steps?
I could, for instance, list the items in the garage that miss to be dealt with, decide what to do about each item and then take care of each one individually, checking them off the roll as I go. But I suspect I would still be sidetracked. As soon as I spotted something intriguing, but not on the muster, I’d be improvising … and I’d be gone.
Digital timers don’t rightful look cool …
I’ve actually started clipping a immature digital kitchen timer to my shirt collar. When I’m doing some task like cleaning out a spell, I set the timer for ten minutes. When it goes off, I immediately start it again and check to see if I’m still on undertaking. Sometimes I am, often … not.
