Cheers & Jeers for Wednesday, Jan. 27

Cheers to Dr. Richard Osenbach and his medical assistant, Emily Davis, for excellent care and treatment during my recent required surgery. I am a survivor of medical malpractice and harbor a great fear relating to any type of surgical procedure. However, these two professionals made sure my care was above standard practice, and my recovery is progressing as expected. Thank you both.

Cheers to Mary Kay and Tom Hennessey of Fayetteville. My dog and I were involved in an accident early Thanksgiving morning. We called them, and they came to our home.
They spent their entire Thanksgiving Day with our dog at Animal Urgent Care and then with me at Highsmith-Rainey Specialty Hospital until late in the evening.
I consider her to be my surrogate sister and her husband to be my brother-in-law. I would really like to commend them for doing that. They gave up their holiday to make sure we were OK.

Washers, dryers get efficient, futuristic

Guggenheim's priorities also take in washers and dryers that wash larger loads efficiently and use less splash and soap while still getting clothes clean.
"The costs of excitement and water and gas keep going up and up and up. . . . You may pay a premium [for efficiency] initially, but the savings and relief level are greater in the long run," he said.
With a "cash for appliances" program set for April 16 to 25 in Illinois, shoppers such as Guggenheim can set free money on energy-efficient appliances and take advantage of new technology that may grasp doing the laundry easier.
The latest appliances, demonstrated at a just out Sears appliance showcase, allow shoppers to customize settings, much like a set-tone download lets you give your phone a unique jangle.
One example is the newest line of Kenmore Elite Momentous Efficiency front-loading washers and dryers. An LED ring lights up in lewd around the chrome knob to alert you to choose a setting. If you customize options (you can no more than hit "start," if you want to keep it simple), a list lights up so you can set the best quality temperature, pinpoint the level of dirt and enable the washer to audit temperature and detergent type so it can adjust the wash round.
