Turning home into home theater is an art

Jan. 24--If you think that having your home stereo hooked up to your television turns your living room into a "home theater," think again.
There's an art, and a lot of science, that goes into properly turning a room in your home into a state-of-the-art home theater.
And while it can be an expensive, and somewhat obsessive endeavor, there are home theater systems for all budgets.
Creating one for your family can be a lot of fun and add a tremendous value to your home. Who doesn't want that nowadays?
We spoke with three families who carefully planned and devised their own home theaters.

Md Aqin stays in an approximately
1,200 square feet three-storeyed house in Walled City. He is supposed to pay Rs
100 as rent to the custodian of enemy properties (properties left behind by
people who left for Pakistan after
partition) — but has not paid it for
the last ten years because nobody ever came to collect it.
In Vijay
Nagar, an entire 250 metre lane (which includes a banquet hall, a factory and an
ashram) claim their address is 1, Canal Road, because 2, Canal Road is
classified as enemy property.
In Katra Alam Beg, some nine
shops
— of 8 feet by 16 feet each and residences — with 2-3 rooms and two
storeys — pay a measly Rs 22.50 p per month to the Muslim Musafirkhana
even though the property by law belongs to the custodian of enemy properties on
behalf of the government of India.
