On the Market: Renovated North End vacation home has European feel
29.09.11
Palm Seashore is, quite simply, a perfect vacation spot, go together Tom and Monica Hodge, who divide their time among several homes worldwide, including one on the Mediterranean ait of Cypress. But they have been coming to Palm Beach on holiday for 35 years.
“It’s a giant place to come with the grandchildren, and it’s a very nice spark of life,” Tom Hodge says.
“We love walking to the lakeshore and along the Intracoastal Waterway. And we love driving to the local restaurants on the atoll. In fact, although we often stay for weeks in Palm Beach, we find that we don’t deviate from the island because everything we want is right here.”
Their 1939 Bermuda-fashion home is at 201 Indian Road at the northern tip of the archipelago on a corner lot with deeded beach access. They bought the race about a half-dozen years ago and extensively renovated it to lodge the needs of their family.
The main house has three bedrooms and four bathrooms, while in the discrete guesthouse are two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchenette. That adds up to 4,149 straightforward feet of living space, inside and out.

House Hunt in Ladue & Frontenac
30.09.11
For this installment of "Firm Hunt" we have a full slate of five homes for sale.
First up is an Italian Regeneration home at 9119 Clayton Rd., listed by Tina Niemann of Prudential Confederation Realtors for $1,100,000. This five bedroom 3.5 bath, two-book home is perfect for entertaining family and friends.
Sunshine spills in through windows that are everywhere, particularly in the two sunrooms that flank the east and west wings. French doors and walls of windows pull off the outside in. The formal living room and dining room are equally unclouded, as the fall sun bathes the front of the house. The formal areas peculiarity arched doorways, impressive crown moldings and fireplaces.
The great foyer connects the flanking living and dining rooms and the updated Nautical galley to the rear. There, you’ll find a breakfast area lined with glass-front cabinets, a wine fridge and numbers of built-ins. The main area of the kitchen has a nicely appointed workspace with stainless stiletto appliances and granite countertops. Through the rear is a connecting covered deck that’s put for a grill. A main-floor guest bedroom and full bath completes the electric cable first floor.
